Case Study: Fierce Festival

In 2022 I had the opportunity to shoot 3 very unique events for Fierce Festival.

Fierce Festival is a youthful and joy-filled festival of international theatre, performance and experiences which takes place in and around Birmingham (UK) every two years.

Fierce transforms the city and the way we feel about it: populating theatres, galleries and hidden, unusual or out-of-the-ordinary spaces like disused warehouses, swimming pools and car park. You might see theatre, dance, performance art, music, installations, activism and parties or a combination of all those things in a programme of memorable experiences and events. |- Fierce Festival

I would love to say that I got to shoot the entire thing but unfortunately there's a standing arangement with another photographer. I count my lucky stars that I got to shoot these performances because it was truly memorable.

As with most events I approached this one by gathering details about what was required. There was some reading around the performances, when they would be and where. This was particularly relevant for the picnic at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

By doing my due diligence prior to the event, I ensured I had enough time to take advantage of the sunlight and get to each performer.
